History & Introduction

It is mentioned in various articles and studies that Egyptians were the first to cut and place flowers in a vase to decorate and add color to their surroundings.  Hence Egyptians were known as the first florists by trade and made different flower arrangements for various functions like burials, celebrations, and table decorations.  Also, The Greeks and the Romans used flowers, herbs, and olive branches with their floral design.  Preferred flower of Romans the rose, these beautiful flowers were used for dressing tables during many meals due to their overwhelming fragrance, which was known as the “Hour of Rose.”  As always, the Chinese were also their own flower arranging during as far back as 207 BCE.  Florists in China were having great respect and honor in their villages and society.  It was a part of their culture and religious teaching, traditional medicine, Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism place flowers on their altars in honor.  Later, almost during 476AD, it came to European lifestyle including churches and then to America. 

Nowadays, flower arrangement and flower decorations became part of daily life and events in the entire world, and it has grown into a very big industry with millions of turnovers in agricultural cultivation, processing, and associated trading activities.
